“Seized by Amazing” | January 15, 2026

Luke 5 shows us what happens when ordinary people encounter an extraordinary Jesus. As crowds gather, miracles unfold, sins are forgiven, and lives are redirected, one clear response emerges—amazement. Pastor Scott reminded us that being “seized by amazing” happens when we place ourselves where Jesus is at work, learn to see what truly matters to Him, and allow Him to redefine what is most immediate in our lives.

“And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, ‘We have seen extraordinary things today.’”Luke 5:26

Main Points

Gather Where You Can Hear — and Be Healed

v. 1, 8, 11, 12, 15, 17, 18–19, 29
People consistently gathered around Jesus to hear His teaching—and healing followed. Whether by the shoreline, in crowded homes, or around a dinner table, those who positioned themselves near Jesus experienced transformation. When we place ourselves where His voice is heard, healing—spiritual and physical—can follow.

Perceive His Priorities

v. 5, 12–13, 21, 26, 32, 38–39
Jesus’ priorities often surprised those around Him. He valued obedience over logic, mercy over ritual, forgiveness over appearances, and repentance over self-righteousness. To be seized by amazing, we must learn to see life through His priorities, not our assumptions.

Let Jesus Define Your Immediate

v. 5, 11, 13, 19, 21, 25, 28, 30, 33, 36–37
When Jesus called, people responded immediately—nets were dropped, roofs were opened, tables were left behind. Jesus redefined urgency. Following Him means allowing His call, His timing, and His purposes to determine what matters most right now.
