God from Luke’s Eyes to Yours
“Firm Foundations” | March 1, 2026
“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them,
I will show you what he is like.” — Luke 6:47 (ESV)
Jesus closes Luke 6 by drawing a clear line between hearing and doing. True faith is not built on good intentions or spiritual language, but on obedience that withstands storms. Pastor Scott reminded us that foundations are revealed under pressure — and only a life anchored in Christ’s words will remain standing.
ASK — Who’s Judgment Is Off?
v 35–36
- Jesus calls us to examine the standard we use to evaluate others.
- Mercy exposes where pride still lives.
- Kingdom judgment always reflects the character of the Father.
COME — Treasure Comes from the Heart
v 36, 45
- What we value most eventually comes out of us.
- Our words and actions reveal where our treasure truly rests.
- A transformed heart produces a transformed life.
HEAR — Benefit Comes from Blessing
v 31–33
- Loving enemies defies natural logic but reflects supernatural grace.
- Blessing others reshapes us before it ever reaches them.
- Jesus calls us to live beyond reciprocity and into righteousness.
DO — Clarity Comes from Obedience
v 47, 49
- Hearing without obedience is spiritual self-deception.
- Obedience doesn’t prevent storms — it prepares us for them.
- A firm foundation is built one obedient step at a time.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Mercy reveals whose judgment we trust.
- What fills the heart directs the life.
- Kingdom living blesses even when it costs.
- Obedience is the proof of belief.
- Storms don’t create foundations — they expose them.
CALL TO ACTION
- Ask honestly: Where might my judgment reflect me more than Jesus?
- Come fully: Invite God to reshape what you treasure.
- Hear intentionally: Read Scripture this week looking for application, not information.
- Do faithfully: Obey one clear instruction God has already revealed.
Don’t just admire the foundation — build on it.
