God from Luke’s Eyes to Yours

“Faith, Fear, Feet, & Food” | April 26, 2026

“Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” — Luke 8:50

In this passage, two desperate situations collide—Jairus’ dying daughter and a woman suffering for twelve years. Both stories reveal the tension between fear and faith. Pastor Scott showed us that whether driven by desperation or devotion, people end up at the same place—at the feet of Jesus. Fear questions, faith presses in, and Jesus responds with power, compassion, and restoration. Where fear tries to stop the story, faith finds a way forward.

Fear & Faith Both FALL at His Feet

v 41, 47

  • Jairus falls in desperation; the woman falls in trembling.
  • Fear and faith often look similar at first—but lead to different outcomes.
  • The difference is not the posture, but the direction of trust.

FEAR of Troubling the Teacher Is FAKE

v 44–45, 49, 52

  • The message came: “Don’t bother Him anymore.”
  • Fear tries to convince us that Jesus is too busy or too late.
  • Jesus proves that interruption is not inconvenience—it’s opportunity.

Faith Finds a Way to TOUCH the FRINGE

v 41, 44, 48, 50

  • The woman pressed through the crowd to reach even the edge of His garment.
  • Faith acts, even when the path is difficult or uncertain.
  • Jesus honors even the smallest expression of genuine belief.

Faith Is FOLLOWED by FOOD & FUN

v 47–48, 54–55

  • Healing leads to restoration—not just physically, but relationally.
  • Jesus brings life back fully—body, soul, and community.
  • Where faith leads, joy follows.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Fear and faith both bring us to Jesus—but only faith trusts Him.
  • Jesus is never too busy or too late to respond.
  • Even small acts of faith matter deeply to God.
  • Faith moves toward Jesus despite obstacles.
  • Restoration through Christ leads to joy and wholeness.

CALL TO ACTION

  • Bring your fear honestly: Don’t hide it—bring it to Jesus.
  • Choose belief: Trust His words even when circumstances say otherwise.
  • Take a step of faith: Act on what you believe God is calling you to do.
  • Expect restoration: Look for how Jesus brings life, not just relief.

Fear says stop. Faith says press in.
