God from Luke’s Eyes to Yours
“Signs of Division” | June 14, 2026
(from the Gospel of Luke)
“Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls.” — Luke 11:17
As Jesus cast out a demon, the crowd was forced to make a decision. Some marveled, others doubted, and still others demanded more proof. Pastor Scott reminded us that division begins when we refuse to recognize what God is already doing. The issue was never a lack of evidence—it was the condition of the heart. Jesus calls His followers to move beyond constant demands for signs and toward wholehearted obedience to His Word.
When You Stop Looking for SOMETHING GREATER from God
v 15, 31, 32
- The crowd wanted more signs while standing in the presence of Someone greater.
- Jesus pointed to the Queen of the South and Jonah as witnesses against their unbelief.
- The greatest revelation isn't a miracle—it's Jesus Himself.
When You BECOME DIVIDED
v 16, 17, 20, 23, 29, 36
- A divided kingdom cannot stand.
- Neutrality is not an option in response to Jesus.
- Division begins when our hearts are pulled between faith and unbelief.
"Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters." — Luke 11:23
When SEEKING SIGNS Pushes Out KEEPING His Word
v 19, 23, 28, 29
- Jesus declared a greater blessing than witnessing miracles: obeying God's Word.
- Sign-seeking can become a substitute for genuine discipleship.
- True faith listens, trusts, and obeys.
"Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" — Luke 11:28
